Matthew Mark is a multidisciplinary artist and designer, whose work lives at the intersection of these two practices — meeting traditional definitions of neither “art” nor “design”, but embracing qualities of both.

Driven by a reverence for process, technique and the materials at hand, Matthew strives for a sense of precision and control over his craft, while leaving space for his materials to reveal their own character and quality.

Inspired by a minimalist approach, Matthew employs the purity of geometric shapes to create patterns and narratives that are familiar or intuitive, yet free from association with common imagery or symbols.

He is currently focused on works in watercolor and clay and is exploring the synergies reflected in the practices of these two seemingly distinct art forms.
